Abstract Components
From ONTORULE Show Case
This pages lists all abstract components of the ONTORULE abstract platform described within the ONTORULE deliverable D6.1 Specification of the ONTORULE platform.
The abstract components describe the intended functionality that needs to be provided for certain steps of the knowledge development process of ONTORULE.
Component Description | |
---|---|
Candidate rule extraction from NL | This component aids to extract candidate rules from pieces of text documents. (X)HTML; OpenDocument Format and Office Open XML are preferred as the input format for text documents. |
Dynamic debugging | This component permits the inspection of an automated process of inference or rule firing; given a combination of OWL2 and RIF. |
Dynamic rule checking | This component reports inconsistencies found in a combination of populated OWL2 ontologies and RIF rulesets. |
Modeling | This component assists business analysts during the modeling process to produce valid and verified BPMN+SBVR specifications of business models. |
Onto/rule set documentation | This component projects an OWL2 and RIF combination to document-grounded; human-readable reports and makes use of the SKOS linguistic knowledge and the annotated documents. |
Onto/rule set verbalization | This component permits to associate; generate and parse linguistic expressions connected to elements of an OWL2 and RIF combination in alignment with the SKOS linguistic knowledge. |
Ontology authoring | This component permits to author ontologies compatible with OWL2 or SBVR. |
Ontology extraction from NL | This component aids to extract OWL2 ontologies and SKOS linguistic knowledge from pieces of text documents. (X)HTML; OpenDocument Format and Office Open XML are preferred as the input format for text documents. |
Ontology instantiation | This component populates a given OWL2 ontology by extracting facts from an existing source (e.g. SQL databases; XML documents; spread sheets). |
Projection | This component supports the partial transformation of BPMN+SBVR business models into either OWL2; RIF or a combination of both. |
Query answering | This component produces XML reports describing solutions that are consistent with the OWL2 and RIF-BLD combination for a given SPARQL or OWL query. This component exposes a SPARQL endpoint or a DIG interface. |
Result reporting (feedback) | This component produces structured explanations about the outcomes of inferencing or rule firing over a given OWL2 and RIF combination. |
Rule authoring | This component permits to author rulesets compatible with RIF. These rules are grounded on OWL2 ontologies and can be derived from candidate rules. |
Rule execution | This component derives new facts with respect to an OWL2 knowledge base by firing or applying RIF rules. This component can exposes a JSR-94 interface. |
Static ontology checking | This component produces EARL reports about the inconsistencies found in an OWL2 ontology. This component exposes a DIG or OWL-API interface. |
Static rule checking | This component reports inconsistencies found in a RIF ruleset possibly with respect to an OWL2 ontology. |
Text annotation | This component permits to associate linguistic knowledge; artifacts of a (possibly partial) business model or elements of an OWL2 and RIF combination to fragments of text documents producing TELIX-annotated documents. |
Text querying | This component retrieves text fragments; ontological elements or candidate rules in response business queries. The queries are expressed in SPARQL. In practice the goal is to retrieve the textual; ontological or rule elements that are linked to a combination of semantics elements (ontological elements or candidate rules). |
Unit testing | This component automatically checks that a combination of OWL2 and RIF satisfies a given set of invariants and reports its findings in EARL. |
