Execution

From ONTORULE Show Case

Jump to: navigation, search

Within the execution phase the operational user Joana uses the end application. The end application is based on the combined reasoning of ontologies and rules. It derives new knowledge based on the developed ontologies and rules and represents the results in an appropriate way to Joana. However, ONTORULE does not aim to develop the end application but provide reasoners for combined ontology and rule execution. Therefore the underlying technology provided within ONTORULE can also be used by the business domain expert Alice for, e.g. rule debugging, as well as by the business expert Gary.

Within ONTORULE several combinations have been developed by academic and commercial partners and concrete implementations of these combinations have been provided. Additionally to the combined execution several supporting technology has been developed and implemented. Results have been reported within several ONTORULE deliverables among which are D3.2, D3.3 and D3.4.

Associated Abstract Components

Component Description
Dynamic debugging This component permits the inspection of an automated process of inference or rule firing; given a combination of OWL2 and RIF.
Query answering This component produces XML reports describing solutions that are consistent with the OWL2 and RIF-BLD combination for a given SPARQL or OWL query. This component exposes a SPARQL endpoint or a DIG interface.
Result reporting (feedback) This component produces structured explanations about the outcomes of inferencing or rule firing over a given OWL2 and RIF combination.
Rule execution This component derives new facts with respect to an OWL2 knowledge base by firing or applying RIF rules. This component can exposes a JSR-94 interface.
