ORM
From ONTORULE Show Case
ORM is a fact-oriented approach for modeling, transforming, and querying business domain information in terms of the underlying facts of interest, where all facts and rules may be verbalized in language readily understandable by non-technical users of those business domains. ORM2 specification language applies to mixfix predicates of any arity and contains predefined patterns covering a wide range of constraints typical for business domains. In particular, the so-called 'Formal ORM Language' describes universe of discourse structure as follow:
- 'Reference schemes' declares the kinds of object of interest and how they are referenced;
- 'Fact types' declares which kinds of facts are of interest. This indicates how instances of object types participate in instances of relationships;
- 'Constraints' lists the constraints on populations of the fact types;
- 'Derivation rules' includes rules that may be used to derive new facts.
