Ontoprise SKOS Vocabulary Management
From ONTORULE Show Case
Motivation
Vocabularies, terminologies, and key word indexing are widely used within applications. They are used for search, for auto-correction, classification and similar functionality. Within the life science sector several consolidated vocabularies exist. They are widely accepted and available at the internet. The Medical Subjects Headings (MESH) consists of half a million structured terms and their relations. Within academia SKOS is a widely used standard for representing such vocabularies.
Within ONTORULE SKOS is used to represent terminology within text documents. The terminology is used as a preliminary step for ontology modelling.
Description
ontoprise developed on top of our adoptable vocabulary management tool SemanticXpress a SKOS vocabulary manager. Different from ontology management tools, vocabulary management does not focus on the ontology structure (in terms of OWL the T-Box) but on the instances and their relations. The SKOS vocabulary management consists of the SKOS hierarchy and the properties of the SKOS concepts. New SKOS concepts can be added within the hierarchy tree. The properties of a SKOS concept are edited in the Entity Property view of the vocabulary management perspective. |
